Cricket prediction
Pitch, toss, form and the «100% sure» claim taken apart: the method.

People who search for today match prediction, match prediction or a cricket match prediction usually want one thing: a finished answer before the toss. A finished answer helps for one evening. A way of reading helps for the whole season, and that is what this page gives you, together with the basic rules of cricket in one place.
The card shows the four lines that lead you to your own call. In a real match you fill these boxes in yourself, and the decision follows from them.
Plenty of pages promise a today match prediction 100 sure and a ready verdict. Here you get the frame instead: with it your own reading comes together in about half an hour, and it works again for the next match and the one after.
A match prediction is not a forecast. It is the sorting of everything known before the first ball, so that your decision becomes clear.
Seven steps cover most matches: schedule and format, the pitch, the toss, recent form in context, squad make-up, the market, and finally one sentence of your own.
In Bengali. The Bengali edition is the main version of this site and carries the same method with local examples: বাংলা সংস্করণ.
Which format, day or night, which city: every other calculation starts here. A day game on a fresh pitch and a night game under dew are different matches, even with the same two teams.
How much grass, what the average score was in the last games at this ground, and whether the ball turned in the second innings. More on the pitch report.
What captains usually choose here after winning the toss, and why: the toss.
The last few results, always with the opponent and the conditions next to them: form in context.
How many spinners, how settled the opening pair is, whether there is a finisher. The eleven is named at the toss, so work from the typical eleven.
The question your notes answer most clearly is the market to use, and the price comes after that.
Decide the amount and the time before the match starts, and write both down.
A good reading rests on five factors, and they do not weigh the same. The chart below is an example of how the weight is usually shared in a T20 match. It is not a forecast for any game; it shows which factor earns how much attention.
The weights move with the format and the ground: in a Test the pitch weighs more, in an ODI form says more. Details on the cricket prediction page.

The card below is a note on an imaginary match: the two teams are made up, the boxes are real. Written this way, the decision before the match becomes clear almost on its own.
The card shows the four lines that lead you to your own call. In a real match you fill these boxes in yourself, and the decision follows from them.

In the middle of the ground lies a 22-yard pitch with stumps at each end. One side bats, with two batters on the field at a time. The other side bowls and fields with all eleven players. The innings ends when the batting side loses ten wickets or when the allotted overs run out.
| What happened | Runs | When it shows up most |
|---|---|---|
| The batters ran | 1, 2 or 3 | On big grounds, in the middle overs |
| The ball rolled over the boundary | 4 | On a fast outfield |
| The ball cleared the boundary in the air | 6 | Short boundaries, death overs |
| Wide or no-ball | 1, plus a free hit after a no-ball | Under dew, in pressure overs |
| Byes and leg byes | 1 to 4 | When the bounce is uneven |

| Type | What happens | Where it is most common |
|---|---|---|
| Bowled | The ball hits the stumps directly | With the new ball, with yorkers |
| Caught | A fielder takes the ball before it lands | Most common in every format |
| LBW | The ball hits the pad and would have hit the stumps | On turning pitches |
| Run out | The stumps are broken while the batters run | In the rush of the last overs |
| Stumped | The keeper breaks the stumps when the batter leaves the crease | Against spinners |
Which dismissals pile up tells you the character of the pitch. More LBWs and stumpings mean the ball is turning; more catches mean there is bounce. The pitch report section shows this reading layer by layer.
The powerplay is the part of an innings when fewer fielders may stand outside the 30-yard circle. With more gaps in the field, this is when runs come fastest. The split depends on the format.
| Format | Which overs | Most fielders outside the circle |
|---|---|---|
| T20 | First 6 overs | 2 |
| ODI, first phase | Overs 1 to 10 | 2 |
| ODI, middle phase | Overs 11 to 40 | 4 |
| ODI, final phase | Overs 41 to 50 | 5 |
For a reading this means something simple: a wicket in the powerplay changes the pace of the whole innings, and once the field spreads at the end, ones and twos come easily. The cricket prediction page shows which phase matters most in which format.

When overs are lost, the target changes too, and the sum is done with the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. It balances two resources: how many overs are left and how many wickets are in hand. That is why 120 for 5 and 120 for 1 are not the same thing. If the game becomes too short, the match is abandoned, and the market rules for an abandoned match apply.
One thing about the Duckworth Lewis method: the full calculation runs in ICC-approved software and cannot be matched by hand from outside. The real figure comes from the ground, so wait for the official revised target before you decide anything.
If you only have a minute before the toss, the whole method folds into four lines. They are the same in Bengali and in English, and they carry most evenings.

Pitch, toss, form and the «100% sure» claim taken apart: the method.
Seven boxes to check and the green lights: how to choose.
Big leagues, points tables and grounds: tournament reading.
Score apps, fantasy apps and betting apps: what to look for (in Bengali).
Markets, prices and live betting: reading the line (in Bengali).
Limits written before you start: 18+ and your limits (in Bengali).
A reading does not need to be memorised, only written down. Fill these four boxes before the match and the decision usually becomes clear by itself.
| Box | What to write | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Pitch | Is there grass, and the average score in the last games | Pitch report |
| Toss | What winners usually choose at this ground | The toss |
| Form | The last few results and who they came against | Form |
| Squad | How many spinners, how settled the opening pair is | Squads |

No. A prediction is an organised reading of what is known before the match. One catch, one injury or a rain break can change the result.
From the board or the broadcaster: the eleven is named at the toss and the score changes every ball. This site shows what to look for and how to read it.
With the pitch report, then the toss, then form. Once those three make sense, the rest comes easily.
Use the seven steps on this page instead of a ready-made pick: pitch, toss, form and squad give you your own call in about half an hour.
It is reliable when it gives reasons. A result stated without reasons is a guess.
The official Laws of Cricket number 42, from the field, ball and bat to umpires and the types of dismissal. A viewer needs only a handful: overs, innings, runs and dismissals.
In T20, the first six overs. In an ODI there are three phases, overs 1 to 10, 11 to 40 and 41 to 50, each with its own limit on fielders outside the circle.
An innings has no over limit. A day’s play is scheduled for 90 overs and the match lasts up to five days, so time is the real limit.
